The Struggle for Ethiopian Aliyah

They wait in Ethiopia. Their families wait in Israel. It's time to end the separation.

Waiting to come home. Waiting to reunite.

Thousands of members of Jewish communities in Ethiopia have been waiting for years in Gondar and Addis Ababa to immigrate to Israel and reunite with their families. The Struggle for Ethiopian Aliyah works to end this separation.

The problem — in three sentences

  1. Thousands of members of Jewish communities are waiting in Gondar and Addis Ababa — some for over twenty years — after leaving their villages following promises of aliyah.

  2. Their first-degree relatives — parents, children, brothers and sisters — live in Israel, serve in the army, work, and wait.

  3. Government resolutions were passed but never fully implemented, leaving families torn between two countries — because of bureaucracy.

What we demand

A clear government resolution

A binding decision with a defined timeline for continuing aliyah and reuniting families.

A dedicated budget

Full funding for aliyah, absorption, and family reunification.

Completion of eligibility checks

A fast, transparent, and fair completion of eligibility reviews for everyone waiting in Gondar and Addis Ababa.

Family reunification in Israel

Let parents, children, brothers and sisters reunite — because families should not be torn apart by bureaucracy.

Thousands of members of Jewish communities in Ethiopia have been waiting for years in Gondar and Addis Ababa to immigrate to Israel and reunite with their families. While their parents, children, brothers and sisters live here in Israel, they remain behind — in a reality of waiting, uncertainty, economic hardship, and ongoing family pain.

The Struggle for Ethiopian Aliyah works to end this separation.

We demand that the Israeli government fulfill its moral, Jewish, and familial responsibility: advance a clear government resolution, allocate a dedicated budget, complete the eligibility checks, and allow families to reunite in Israel.

This is not just a story of aliyah.

It is a story of families.

It is a story of responsibility.

It is a story of justice.
